Google form for assessing technology lessons.
This page provides some background information that may help teachers think about technology integrated units and lesson plans.
According to Understanding by Design (McTighe and Wiggins, 2005), a unit (short for "unit of study") "represents a coherent chunk of work in courses or strands, across days or weeks" (p. 353). While they acknowledge that there is no hard and fast criteria for a unit, they offer the following guidelines. A unit:

The metrics used to determine underperforming schools are garnered through standardized tests. Each state creates their own test to be administered and provides their results to the federal government and based on those scores federal funding is awarded. The goal is more accountability by each state and a hope to close the achievement gap between minorities and white students.
This plan has come under strong criticism for a number of problems and loop holes that have been taken advantage of. Each state creates their own standardized test to administer each year and trying not to lose out on federal funding some states have admitted to making the tests easier so it shows an improvement being made by the school districts and allowing them to receive full funding from the government for that year. It also bring to light the problem that teachers will "teach to the test", not wanting to have their students fail the standardized exams teachers will teach lessons and information that they fill will be heavily covered on the test. This way the students go into the test with a strong working knowledge of the material but they often weren't exposed to additional lessons and information which the teacher felt would not be covered. Many poor performing school districts also opt to lower spending on subjects such as the arts, social studies, and foreign languages because these subjects are not covered on the test and instead increase spending substantially on english and math courses.
